Ardastra Gardens Zoo and Conservation Center – A TOURIST IN THE CARIBBEAN

Ardastra Gardens Zoo and Conservation Center

This 80-year old garden, zoo and conversation center consists of four acres of beautiful lush tropical gardens, native mammals and more than 200 bird species, including the National Bird of the Bahamas, The Caribbean Flamingo.  The garden is very tranquil with a brilliant array of flowers such as coconut palms, orchids, bougainvilleas and hibiscus in a wide variety of colors. There is also a wide agglomeration of tropical plants and fruit trees like the mango, sapodilla, and breadfruit all lined along to winding trails draped with vines and hanging fruits. The zoo specializes in bird rescue and rehabilitation, education, preservation of history and conservation of natural resources. There are also playful parrots, Bahamian boa constrictors and the world-famous marching flamingoes.  The center also offers shows throughout the day and lots of games in the courtyard for the kids to enjoy.
