Barbacourt Distillery – A TOURIST IN THE CARIBBEAN

Barbacourt Distillery

Tucked away in the beautiful sugarcane fields on the island, north of the airport is the famous Barbabcourt Rhum Distillery, that welcome visitors on Fridays, from May to November each year.  Unlike other distilleries that use molasses, the distillery work entirely with fresh sugarcane from their fields. The sugarcane is reduced to a syrup, to allow it to be kept longer, before fermentation  Even after the 2010 devastation, the Distillery is still producing the aged old rum in French Oak barrels – still free from any additional additives. A tour of the distillery should be a must on visitors’ mind especially when free samples of rum are being distributed.
