Emancipation Garden – St. Thomas – A TOURIST IN THE CARIBBEAN

Emancipation Garden – St. Thomas

Built in 1948 this park was dedicated to the emancipation of slaves on the island. It commemorated 150 years since the abolition of slavery with a simple inscription which reads “Freedom”.  It is a lovely green garden with a lot of historical monuments that are quite interesting and centrally located, near the Fort and government buildings. Sitting in the garden is a reproduction of the Liberty Bell, an old Danish canon, and a statue of a slave blowing a conch. It’s a lovely place to chill out, relax and enjoy a wonderful time in the city.  And yes, free wifi is available while sitting in the park.
