Nelson’s Dockyard – A TOURIST IN THE CARIBBEAN

Nelson’s Dockyard

Nelsons Dockyard is the largest national park in Antigua. It is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site marina in English Harbor located in Saint Paul Parish. Used for docking yachts and ships, it has been completely restored. The 18th and 19th-century buildings have modern amenities like shops and hotels. This dockyard was used to protect the ships from hurricanes and since it is at the south of the island was used for monitoring the French Naval Activity.  There are many activities that the visitors can enjoy at the Dockyad, the Admirality House, The Dockyard Museum, numerous forts and military posts including Shirley Heights, Fort Berkeley, Fort Charlotte, and Fort George which are all in the Park. The Cooper Lumber Store Hotel has 5-star facilities and magnificent views. It also offers heritage tours and other tour options around the island.
