Parliament Square – A TOURIST IN THE CARIBBEAN

Parliament Square

Built by escaping British loyalists from North Carolina in the United States in the 1700s and early 1800s, Parliament Square is a popular tourist attraction located on Bay Street, close to the cruise ship port.  Its stunning old Colonial Georgian style influenced the flamingo pink buildings which include the House of Assembly, the Supreme Court House, and the Senate Building – all striking replicas of past life on the island. A statue of Queen Victoria, placed there in 1905, sits in the center island of the square.  Parliament Square is a reminder of the island’s history and is worth a visit if your destination is the Bahamas.
