The Bahamas

The Bahamas is one of the world’s premier vacation destinations that attract millions of tourists every year. Just 50 miles off the coast of Florida in the United States the Bahamas is a hugely popular Caribbean destination for American travelers. The island’s economy depends primarily on tourism, banking, cement production, oil refining and transshipment, salt production, rum, aragonite, pharmaceuticals, and spiral-welded steel pipe. The island’s major agricultural products include citrus, vegetables, and poultry. The lobsters fishing business contributes millions to the island’s economy each year. The island’s major exporting countries are the USA, Europe, and Japan.

The Cloisters

The beauty of the island extends way beyond its natural wonders. The people are best described as easy going, friendly, and hospitable and this can be seen by the warm smiles on their faces. The unique sounds of the distinctive cultures are from a mixture of Africans, combined with European and North American influences.  The majority of the residents live on New Providence island.
