Willemstad is the capital of Curacao and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The historic center of the island consists of two main cities, the Punda and the Otrabonda which is separated by the St Anna Bay, and connected by the iconic swinging bridge, the Queen Emma Bridge, which is the only one of its kind in the world.  Punda is known for its shopping, museum and narrow streets while Otrabonda is more residential. Willemstad is known for its old town center with pastel-colored Colonial architecture and the business hub of the island. There are many interesting sights in the city such as the Floating Market, a market where Venezuelan merchants come to the island by boat to sell their produce; the Jewish Synagogue, the oldest surviving synagogue in the Americas; the museum, Kura Hulanda which gives you an insight into the history of slavery on the island; Fort Amsterdam which guards the harbour; and the Curacao museum which features the history of traditional and contemporary art on the island.
